Councilmember Andrew Friedson and Council President Natali Fani-González will introduce Zoning Text Amendment 26-02 on Jan. 27, 2026, which would exempt certain sites from the 30 percent gross floor area cap on household living uses within regional shopping center overlay zones. The exemption applies provided a regional shopping center of at least 600,000 square feet is retained within the zone. A public hearing is scheduled for March 3, 2026.
