$1M Special Appropriation Targets Health Services Waitlists

Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles announced a $1 million special appropriation on January 12, 2026, at the Silver Spring Civic Center alongside County Executive Marc Elrich to stabilize health and human services for vulnerable residents. The funding aims to prevent service disruptions, reduce homecare waitlists, expand senior nutrition, and strengthen respite care. The measure was introduced January 13 with four co-sponsors; a joint HHS/Government Operations Committee meeting is scheduled for February 9.
