Montgomery County Taxicab Rate Rises to $2.50 Per Mile Feb. 1

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, all Montgomery County taxicabs—including wheelchair-accessible vehicle taxicabs—will increase their meter rate from $2.00 to $2.50 per mile, the first rate change in more than 15 years. A new $1 nighttime surcharge will also apply to trips taken between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The changes were recommended by the Taxicab Services Commission and industry stakeholders to maintain service viability and attract drivers.
