County Launches 'Look Before You Book' Massage Safety Campaign

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Human Trafficking Prevention Committee launched the 'Look Before You Book' public education campaign on Feb. 6, 2026, aimed at helping residents identify licensed massage and bodywork establishments and recognize signs of illegal operations. The campaign will run through June 2026 and includes TV public service announcements, bus ads, social media outreach, and a new website. Since June 2024, Montgomery County Police's Vice Unit has conducted 44 spa inspections, issued 40 civil citations to 25 spas, and charged 13 spa owners with felony offenses related to illegal massage operations.
