Council Reviews FY27 Spending Affordability Guidelines Feb. 10

The Montgomery County Council will review a resolution on Feb. 10 to adopt the Spending Affordability Guidelines for the FY2027 Operating Budget, meeting the County Code's annual deadline of the second Tuesday of February. The Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee recommends setting the aggregate operating budget ceiling at more than $6.7 billion—a 1.09 percent increase from the FY26 approved budget—and setting the real property tax revenue ceiling at the charter limit. The guidelines establish separate budget allocations for County Government, MCPS, Montgomery College, M-NCPPC, debt service, and capital projects.
