County APAAG Releases Sikh Patient Care Handbook for Providers

Montgomery County's Asian Pacific American Advisory Group (APAAG) has released the "Health Care Providers' Handbook on Sikh Patients," a resource adapted from a Queensland Health publication for local use. The handbook covers topics including the Five Articles of Faith, dietary considerations, end-of-life care, and communication best practices for the approximately 10,000 Sikhs living in Montgomery County. The project was led by APAAG Co-Chair Ishani Chowdhury, who previously launched a similar handbook on Hindu patients in 2023; a handbook on Muslim patients is expected in 2027.
