County Deploys $3.5M to Boost Food Assistance Network

Montgomery County's Office of Food Systems Resilience is distributing $3.5 million from a $7.75M Special Appropriation passed by the County Council in November 2025 to address increased demand for food assistance. Funds are allocated across expanded Community Food Assistance grants to 53 nonprofits ($1.9M), Capital Area Food Bank nutrition programs ($750,000), Manna Food Center food distributions ($700,000), and Nutrition Benefits Outreach grants ($150,000). Contract and grant amendments are already in progress as of February 2026.
