VITA Programs Complete 2,397 Returns, $7.7M Tax Impact

The Community Action Agency's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program completed 2,397 tax returns last year, resulting in a $7.7 million free tax impact for county residents. The program serves households with incomes of $69,000 or less, with IRS-certified preparers at sites in Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Wheaton, as well as virtual appointments. All VITA sites assist ITIN filers, and Community Action and CASA sites also help with ITIN applications.
