County Proposes Two Bills to Regulate Data Centers

Montgomery County Executive's office has released draft legislative and policy recommendations for data centers. The County Council is now considering ZTA 26-01, which would restrict data centers to industrial zones with environmental criteria, and Bill 4-26, which would establish a data center task force. A public meeting was held February 3, 2026, with additional stakeholder feedback solicited.
