Bill 8-26 Targets Algorithmic Rent Collusion in County

Councilmember Will Jawando introduced Bill 8-26, the Anti-Algorithmic Price Fixing Act, to establish a county-level prohibition on the use of algorithmic software for rental price collusion among landlords. The bill follows a 2025 Maryland Attorney General lawsuit against a software company and several residential landlords alleged to have used such tools to raise rents on thousands of Maryland residents. A parallel bill has also been re-introduced at the Maryland state level in the current legislative session.
