County Committees Vote Against Data Center Task Force Bill

On March 9, 2026, the Montgomery County Economic Development and Transportation & Environment Committees voted 3-2 against Bill 4-26, legislation that would have established a Data Center Task Force. The county is simultaneously advancing a Zoning Text Amendment to set clearer definitions, standards, and siting requirements for data centers, spurred in part by a major project proposed on the former Dickerson power plant site.
