Jawando Calls for Two-Year Data Center Moratorium in County

At-Large Councilmember Will Jawando announced at a CCAN Action Fund rally on March 13, 2026, that he will introduce legislation establishing a two-year moratorium on new data center development in Montgomery County. Jawando cited concerns about rising electricity costs, clean water, air quality, and grid capacity. He said any future data center development should run on 100 percent clean energy, use union labor, and receive no tax incentives.
