Council Passes Green Bank Climate Resiliency Legislation

The Montgomery County Council this week passed legislation sponsored by Councilmember Luedtke, co-sponsored by Councilmembers Friedson and Glass, expanding the Montgomery County Green Bank's authority to fund climate resiliency and adaptation projects. The bill allows the Green Bank to support stormwater management, flood protection for utilities and infrastructure, clean backup power generation, and tree canopy expansion. The legislation makes more flexible use of existing resources to address increasing flooding, extreme heat, and severe weather in the county.
