Jawando Bill Would Ban AI Rent Price-Fixing by Landlords

Councilmember Will Jawando held a press conference and public hearing on the Anti-Algorithmic Price-Fixing Act, which would prohibit the use of algorithmic tools to fix, coordinate, or manipulate rental prices in Montgomery County. The bill is co-sponsored by Councilmembers Shebra Evans and Kristin Mink. Nearly 40 percent of the county's 1.1 million residents are renters.
