County Lists Energy Bill Assistance Programs Amid Rising Costs

Montgomery County is highlighting several energy assistance programs available to residents as gas and electric bills rise due to increased winter usage and higher delivery and supply rates. Programs include Maryland Energy Assistance, utility shut-off protection (November–March), Electric Universal Service credits for households at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, Arrearage Retirement Assistance of up to $2,000 for past-due balances, and the nonprofit Fuel Fund of Maryland for BGE customers.
