Montgomery County First to Join COG Local Food Procurement Challenge

The Montgomery County Council will vote on March 24 on a resolution to make the county the first jurisdiction to join the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Local Food Procurement Challenge, an initiative led by Councilmember Andrew Friedson. Friedson will host a press conference at 12:30 p.m. at the Council Office Building (100 Maryland Ave., Rockville) to mark the anticipated milestone. Speakers include Council President Natali Fani-González, COG representatives, and leaders from local food organizations including AfriThrive, Manna Food Center, and Community FarmShare.
