County Executive Proposes Property Tax, Income Tax Hikes in FY27 Budget

County Executive Marc Elrich released his recommended Fiscal Year 2027 Operating Budget on March 13, 2026, proposing a 6.3-cent property tax increase projected to generate $165.7 million and a 0.1% income tax rate increase from 3.2% to 3.3% projected to generate $20 million. The property tax increase is tied to funding MCPS's budget request. Public hearings on the FY27 budget are scheduled for April 7–9, 2026, with a sign-up deadline of April 3, 2026 at noon.
