MCDOT Names Winners of 2026 Teen Distracted-Driving Video Contest

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation has announced winners of its 2026 'Heads Up, Phones Down' teen video contest, which drew nearly 100 entries from public and private high school students across the County. Grand prize individual winner Julian Szell of John F. Kennedy High School and grand prize group winners Nubia Abatemam, Grace Mbonguy, Namibia Mustapha, and Grace Tawes of Richard Montgomery High School took top honors. The MCDOT Pedestrian Safety team visited the winning schools on March 20, 2026, to award prizes including cash, gift cards, an Apple MacBook Pro, an Apple Watch, and a tripod.
