County Expands Bus Lanes to 12 Miles, Passes Enforcement Legislation

Montgomery County has expanded its bus lane network from less than one mile to more than 12 lane miles and secured passage of legislation allowing automated bus lane enforcement in Maryland. MCDOT Deputy Director Haley Peckett, in the role approximately two years, reported the county has also established a partnership with MCPD and WMATA and passed a major regional initiative to prioritize transit funding. Five Bus Rapid Transit projects are advancing simultaneously across the county.
