$3.8M State Request Targets Wheaton Branch Flood Mitigation

Montgomery County is requesting $3,785,000 in state funding during the 2025 General Assembly session to mitigate flooding along the Wheaton Branch by excavating and expanding the stream channel upstream of Wheaton Regional Pond and modifying its riser structure. The project will also include reforestation planting to meet MS4 permit stream restoration goals.
