MCDOT Director Conklin Elected Chair of Metro Safety Commission

Montgomery County Department of Transportation Director Chris Conklin has been elected chair of the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission (WMSC), the independent agency overseeing WMATA Metrorail safety plans, incident investigations, and corrective action programs. Conklin was appointed to the WMSC three years ago by Governor Wes Moore as a Maryland commissioner. The WMSC, created by Congress and the jurisdictions of Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. in 2017, is composed of six commissioners and three alternates supported by roughly 20 staff professionals.
