Five Women's Priority Bills Fail in Maryland Session

Five of the Montgomery County Commission for Women's nine priority bills failed to pass during the 449th Maryland General Assembly session, which ended April 14, 2026. The failed bills would have protected sexual assault survivors from retaliatory litigation, added caregiver status to employment anti-discrimination law, provided relief for coerced debt from domestic violence, strengthened firearm removal requirements in protective order proceedings, and modernized sex designation on birth certificates.
