Elrich Pushes Back on Fani-González Budget Proposal

County Executive Marc Elrich issued a statement April 17, 2026 responding to a budget proposal from Council President Natali Fani-González. Elrich contends that eliminating the homeowner ITOC tax credit — a flat $692 credit for principal-residence owners — would result in higher property taxes than under his own proposal for any home valued under $1,090,000. He also criticized her proposal to eliminate the Working Families Income Supplement, arguing most low-income workers would net less money despite a proposed income tax reduction for those earning under $50,000 annually.
