Council Votes on Mega Gas Station Zoning Amendment

The Montgomery County Council is voting on a zoning text amendment that would relax standards for mega gas stations, in part to facilitate a facility at the Viva White Oak development. Councilmember Fani-González is sponsoring a counter-amendment that would measure the required 500-foot public health buffer from the full footprint of the gas station rather than from the pumps alone. The amendment is supported by Kensington Heights/Wheaton neighbors and countywide advocacy groups.
