Montgomery County Taxicab Rates Rise to $2.50/Mile Feb. 1

Starting February 1, 2026, all Montgomery County taxicabs — including wheelchair accessible vehicle taxicabs — will charge $2.50 per mile, up from $2 per mile, marking the first meter rate change in more than 15 years. A new $1 nighttime surcharge will also apply to trips taken between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The Taxicab Services Commission and industry stakeholders recommended the change to maintain service viability and attract and retain drivers.
