Taxicab Meter Rate Rises to $2.50/Mile Feb. 1

All Montgomery County taxicabs, including wheelchair accessible vehicle taxicabs, will increase their per-mile rate from $2.00 to $2.50 beginning February 1, 2026 — the first meter rate change in more than 15 years. A new $1 nighttime surcharge will also apply to trips made between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The changes were recommended by the Taxicab Services Commission and industry stakeholders to sustain service viability and attract and retain drivers.
