Eric's ID Law Adds Butterfly Symbol for Hidden Disabilities

Maryland launched Eric's ID Law in 2025, enabling residents with developmental or intellectual disabilities to voluntarily add a butterfly symbol to their driver's license, ID card, or moped permit. The symbol is intended to help law enforcement and first responders better recognize and respond to the needs of individuals with hidden disabilities. Councilmember Sayles joined Governor Moore's mother, the bill sponsors, and advocates at the implementation celebration.
