Taxicab Meter Rate Rises to $2.50/Mile Feb. 1

Beginning February 1, 2026, all Montgomery County taxicabs — including wheelchair accessible vehicle taxicabs — will increase their per-mile rate from $2.00 to $2.50. A new $1 nighttime surcharge will also apply to trips taken between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The Taxicab Services Commission and industry stakeholders recommended the adjustment, the first meter rate change in more than 15 years.
