Montgomery County's Bring Your Own Bag law took effect January 1, 2026, introducing new requirements aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable shopping habits countywide. The legislation was sponsored by Councilmember Kate Stewart and was unanimously approved by the County Council. Ana Arriaza, manager of partnerships and engagement at the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, will discuss the law on the Jan. 9 edition of En Sintonía con el Concejo.
