Montgomery County's Bring Your Own Bag law took effect January 1, 2026, introducing new requirements aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable shopping habits countywide. The legislation was sponsored by Councilmember Kate Stewart and was unanimously approved by the County Council.
