MCPS Begins Construction of First Net Zero School in Burtonsville

Montgomery County Public Schools began construction of its first Net Zero School at Burtonsville Elementary School, as detailed in the FY25 Climate Action Plan Annual Report released January 2026. The project is part of a broader county effort to improve building sustainability. The county also completed construction of a microgrid at the 6th District Police Station, capable of maintaining power during extended grid outages.
