Bill 18-26 Introduced to Screen Former DHS Officers Seeking MCPD Jobs

MCCouncil Apr 27, 2026
Councilmember Evan Glass will introduce Bill 18-26 on April 28, 2026, which would require the Montgomery County Police Department to verify background information for any applicant who worked as a federal DHS law enforcement officer on or after January 21, 2025 and engaged in deportation, expulsion, or removal operations. The bill, called the Continued Excellence in Public Service Act, applies the verification requirement before any final offer of employment is extended. A public hearing is scheduled for June 9, 2026.
