Council Introduces Expedited Immigrant Protections 'Trust Act'

The Montgomery County Council introduced Expedited Bill 35-25, the Promoting Community Trust – Immigrant Protections Act, during its last session of 2025. Council President Natali Fani-González announced and introduced the legislation, which aims to codify protections for immigrant residents and build trust between those residents and county government. Advocacy organizations including CASA, Students FAIR, and MoCo-IRC were present in support.
