Council to Vote on $7.9B FY27 Operating Budget May 21

The Montgomery County Council will meet on May 21, 2026 at 11 a.m. to take final votes on resolutions approving the $7.9 billion FY27 Operating Budget, $1.3 billion FY27 Capital Budget, and $6.3 billion FY27-32 Capital Improvements Program. The operating budget votes include resolutions for County Government, MCPS, Montgomery College, M-NCPPC, and WSTC, as well as a resolution to set property tax rates. A new progressive income tax structure and a $143 million increase in local operating funding for MCPS are among the items expected to be adopted.
