Council to Vote on Climate Assessment Bill March 3

MCCouncil Mar 2, 2026
The Montgomery County Council is expected to vote on Bill 34-25 on March 3, 2026, which amends the required contents of climate assessments for legislation and zoning text amendments. The bill would add definitions for greenhouse gas emissions, sequestration, and carbon drawdown to bring clarity and consistency to evaluations of 'community resilience.' The Transportation and Environment Committee recommends enactment with amendments, including allowing the Planning Board to delegate climate assessment transmittal to its staff.
