Council Weighs Income Tax Hike to 3.3 Percent

The Montgomery County Council will hold a public hearing on May 12, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. to receive testimony on a resolution to increase the county income tax up to 3.3 percent of an individual's Maryland taxable income, effective for tax years beginning after Dec. 31, 2026. The hearing will take place at the Council Office Building in Rockville and will also be accessible remotely. Residents must sign up to testify by May 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
