County Acquires White's Ferry Maryland Landing for $1.5M

Montgomery County has reached an agreement to acquire the Maryland landing and boat operations at White's Ferry for $1.5 million, split between the state and county. The ferry crossing has been closed since December 2020; before closing it carried 600–800 vehicles daily across the Potomac between Poolesville and Leesburg, Virginia. Public ownership of the Maryland side is described as a critical first step toward resuming service, with further coordination needed with Loudoun County and Virginia.
