County GHG Emissions Drop 32% Since 2005, MWCOG Finds

A Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments analysis found Montgomery County's communitywide greenhouse gas emissions fell 32% between 2005 and 2023, even as the county's population grew 16%. The inventory covers 24 local governments in the D.C. metro region. Montgomery County's 2021 Climate Action Plan targets an 80% emissions reduction by 2027 and 100% by 2035.
