County Lands $1.35M Grant for EMTOC Transit Microgrid

The Montgomery County Department of General Services has received a $1.35 million Resilient Maryland Grant from the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) to support construction of a microgrid at the David F. Bone Equipment Maintenance and Transit Operations Center (EMTOC) in Derwood. The project will integrate solar panels, battery storage, and advanced controls to power operations for 200 zero-emission Ride On buses and sustain services during grid outages. An additional $150,000 from MEA is contingent on project closeout, bringing potential total funding to $1.5 million.
