County Lands $8.3M State Grant for 20 Clean Energy Projects

Montgomery County has secured $8.3 million in state funding through the Maryland Energy Administration's FY26 Local Government Energy Modernization (L-GEM) Program to support 20 clean energy and energy efficiency projects at public facilities. The investment, combined with County cost-share funds, is projected to save at least $439,000 annually in energy costs and generate more than $11 million in lifetime savings. Projects span solar installations, resilience hub infrastructure, parking facility upgrades, and energy efficiency improvements across County agencies.
