County Partners Secure Free Prom Ride for Wheelchair-Using Student
StewartMay 13, 2026
A Montgomery Blair High School student who uses a power wheelchair faced transportation barriers to attending prom, prompting MBHS staff to contact Councilmember Stewart's office. Stewart's office coordinated with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and WMATA to arrange a ride free of charge on short notice. The student was able to attend prom as a result of the inter-agency collaboration.
