County Radio Replacement CIP Cut 57% to $13M

Montgomery County Council Mar 10, 2026
The joint GO and PS Committee will review the FY2027–2032 Capital Improvements Program for the County Radio Life Cycle Replacement Project at 1:30 p.m. on March 11, 2026. The project, budgeted at more than $13 million, represents a 57-percent decrease from the approved FY2025–2030 CIP and funds phased replacement of first-responder voice radio systems purchased in 2011 that reached end-of-service life in 2021. The County Executive estimates approximately 1,204 voice radio systems beyond their service life will still be in use as of FY2027.
