Elrich Congratulates New Maryland House Speaker Peña-Melnyk

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich released a statement on Dec. 16, 2025 congratulating Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk on her election as the next Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates. Peña-Melnyk is noted as only the second Latina presiding officer in U.S. history. Elrich also thanked outgoing Speaker Adrienne Jones for her service since 2019.
