Elrich Plans Two-Year Campaign Against Budget Amendment Proposal
ElrichSep 3, 2026
County Executive Marc Elrich announced plans to use public budget forums, community meetings, and regular briefings over the next two years to explain how the County budget works and what the proposed Charter amendment would mean in practice. The outreach is aimed at informing residents ahead of an expected 2028 petition effort by supporters of the unanimous-vote budget requirement. Elrich said conversations will address circumstances in which costs can increase faster than inflation, including emergency needs, labor, and healthcare costs.
