Public parking garages, lots, and curbside meters in Montgomery County will be free on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2026, with posted rates in effect on Dec. 31. County-provided trash and recycling collections are canceled Jan. 1, with remaining weekly collections sliding one day and final collections on Jan. 3. The Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 and remain closed on Jan. 1.
