Friedson Requests Sworn Police Return to All High Schools

Councilmember Andrew Friedson formally requested on April 27, 2026 that County Executive Elrich, Superintendent Taylor, Board of Education President Rivera-Oven, and Police Chief Yamada collaborate on a plan to restore permanently assigned, sworn police officers in all Montgomery County high schools. The request follows a County Council school safety briefing and a series of incidents at Bradley Hills Elementary, Walter Johnson High School, and Wootton High School. Friedson cited the need for both relationship-building and immediate response capability.
