Glass Press Conference Targets MCPS Budget Process Reforms

Councilmember Evan Glass will host a press conference on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Montgomery County Council Office Building to call for reforms to the MCPS budget process. The County Council approved a $3.7 billion MCPS operating budget for FY27 — $143 million more than last year — but MCPS has proposed cutting over 400 positions including social workers, school psychologists, and EML therapeutic counselors. The Board of Education is scheduled to vote on the proposed cuts on June 4; Glass will be joined by parents, education advocates, and former officials to demand greater transparency and accountability.
