MCCouncil Apr 28, 2026
The GO Committee will review a proposal on April 29, 2026 to increase the County income tax rate from 3.2% to 3.3% of Maryland taxable income, effective for tax years beginning after Dec. 31, 2026. The current 3.2% rate has been in place since the FY04 budget. Separately, Council President Fani-González has proposed a progressive income tax bracket structure with rates ranging as low as 2.5% on income up to $50,000, subject to state law limits of 2.25%–3.30% per bracket.
