Long Branch Named 35th Main Street Maryland Community
PIOJan 23, 2026
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development has designated Long Branch — located between downtown Silver Spring and Takoma Park — as the newest Main Street Maryland community, the highest tier in the statewide program. Long Branch becomes the 35th community in the program and the second in Montgomery County, following Old Takoma's designation in 1998. Montgomery Housing Partnership is the coordinating organization for the designation, which is intended to strengthen Long Branch's commercial district ahead of upcoming Purple Line station openings.
