Luedtke, Katz Host Shady Grove Solid Waste Town Hall Sept. 2

Luedtke Aug 31, 2026
Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke (District 7) and Sidney Katz (District 3) will host a town hall on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, from 7–8:30 p.m. at the MCDOT Highway Services Depot in Rockville. The meeting will feature Department of Environmental Protection representatives discussing the County's proposed shift from rail-based waste transport to long-haul truck landfilling, which would require expanded operations at the Shady Grove Transfer Station. The County Council is expected to review the proposal and its effects on the Ten-Year Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan this fall.
