MCDOT Parking Garages to Get Energy, Lighting Upgrades

MCDOT Jun 3, 2026
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will use grant funding for building automation upgrades, sump pump improvements, switchgear modernization, and lighting and safety enhancements in public parking garages. Engineering studies will also be conducted to evaluate future solar canopies in Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Wheaton. In Silver Spring and Wheaton, the County will assess routing solar-generated electricity to the grid to reduce energy costs for nearby low- and moderate-income communities.
